Dive trips are planned to log bottom time and to explore new underwater territory but even the most hard core diver will spend a lot more time out of the water than in it. That’s why planning for the surface intervals can be just as important as planning the dive. It’s great to see something awesome underwater but it’s even better to share the story later with your dive buddies while enjoying a cool drink and a good meal. It takes more than blue water and colorful fish to make a perfect dive destination.
An area that has beautiful water, great dive sites, and professional SCUBA businesses along with lodging, restaurants, shopping, entertainment, and transportation really is an ideal SCUBA diving destination. The Cayman Islands, one of the most famous dive destinations in the world, offers all this plus unlimited shore diving at most of the resorts there. The boat dives to wrecks and reefs, along with the great shore diving, has a unique appeal and has undoubtedly contributed to the Cayman Island’s success in becoming popular with traveling divers. It’s a wonderful destination but it involves the expense of international air travel.
